If you’re looking for a special event for your staff outing, local club, hen party, birthday party, Xmas party or just a get together with a group of friends, this is the tour for you! We provide private wine tours and tastings throughout the year, offering a unique behind-the-scenes view of our vineyard and winery.
Our tours are designed to be friendly, informative and lots of fun! No prior knowledge is required as our experienced staff will lead you through the ups and downs of the English wine-making process. You’ll visit some of our vines (weather permitting) before heading inside the winery to see the grape-pressing area, the fermentation tanks, the barrel room, champagne room and the bottling line. At each stage you’ll be offered one of our award-winning wines to taste, including a selection from our white, red and sparkling range.
The tour ends in our fabulous Cellar Shop, where you can buy your new-found favourite (we sell by the glass, bottle and case), as well as a range of other wine-related products.
The tour will last for approx two hours and you’ll have the opportunity to taste around 8 different wines – you may wish to book a taxi home!
A private tour costs £20 per person, with a minimum charge of £300. This is a fixed rate which covers the first 15 guests, so whether there is 1 person or 15 people on the tour, the cost of the tour is the same. Additional guests above 15 are charged at £20 each.
We can accommodate almost any number of guests on the tours, although if the number exceeds 40 please contact us to discuss the arrangements, as it can be best to split the group and do staggered tours.
Pre-booking is essential. We require full payment in advance to secure your booking.
If you have to cancel your tour the following refund policy applies:
Less than 1 weeks' notice: no refund available.
Less than 4 weeks' notice: we will refund 50% of your payment.
More than 4 weeks' notice: we will refund 90% of your payment or, you may reschedule your tour at no charge.
‘No shows’ on the day are not entitled to a refund, and we are unable to provide a discount for tour participants who choose not to taste the wine!
We accept payment via bank transfer, or by credit/debit cards over the telephone or in person at the Cellar Shop. We also accept cheques and cash.
It is advisable to book as far in advance as possible. Our tour calendar fills very quickly and if you leave it until the last minute your preferred date may no longer be available.
Please email firstname.lastname@example.org stating your name, address, business name (if any), phone number, your preferred tour date and time, estimated number of guests. We will get in touch as soon as possible to advise on the availability of your tour date. Please note: your tour is not confirmed until we have received full payment in advance.
We can offer a great deal of flexibility for a private tour, including weekdays, weekends or evenings. The length of the tour can also be adapted to your needs (for example, if you need a shorter tour of ~ 1 hour).
We do not have a café/restaurant on site but there are a number of excellent local hostelries within a few miles of the vineyard to suit all budgets.
Our tours can be adapted to the weather! The majority of the tour is inside the winery so the weather doesn’t affect it. However, if it’s raining this may prohibit a visit to see some of the vines.
You don’t need any special clothing, just sensible shoes and enough clothes to keep you warm. Our winery is kept at a cool temperature so short sleeves are ok for a summer daytime visit but in the evenings and in winter you’ll need to wrap up warm!
We have a large, free car-park at the front of the Cellar Shop which can easily accommodate coaches.
Unfortunately our tour is unsuitable for wheelchairs. However, it is possible to do some tasting in the Cellar Shop.
Unfortunately our tours are unsuitable for anyone under the age of 18 and we cannot allow children of any age to accompany the tour. Sorry.
