Stanlake Park - Wine Estates

When Peter and Annette Dart bought Stanlake Park in 2004 they had a vision of the future for the Estate. Growing grapes in England is difficult, and whilst the quality of English wine has improved considerably over the past 20 years, some of the world's classic varieties will probably never grow successfully here in Berkshire, England.

Consumers of wine have also become more sophisticated and demand a more comprehensive selection. In developing the Stanlake Park Cellar Shop it was therefore decided to develop the range, whilst keeping the English wine made at Stanlake at the core.

We have begun our search to extend our range beyond Stanlake and other English Wine, which will always be the at the heart of our business. We have several criteria which we think are important.

1. The wine should be purchased by people we know personally

2. The varieties should complement, not duplicate, what can be made in England

3. The wine should be of consistent high quality

4. Finally we like relatively unknown brands that you cannot find in the UK mass market

The Jordon Estate

Our first partnership is with Kathy and Gary Jordan in Stellenbosch and 5 excellent wines (Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Merlot, Unoaked Chardonnay and Botrytis Riesling) were launched in May 2006. The Jordan's have been making world-class wine since 1993 on a farm with a history dating back some 300 years. The estate runs to 100 hectares and you can see more details on their website.
